Knighton Normal School Project
Knighton Normal is a large, exceptionally diverse school in Hamilton. A major focus of the school is to provide tailored support for our wide range of learners. As a decile 5 school we often find ourselves in a funding no man’s land receiving limited Ministry of Education funding and not asking too much from our community re fundraising. The school has experienced considerable growth recently which has created pressure in providing learning spaces this has created some inequity in learning areas with some being amazing and others a little tired particularly in floor coverings.
The area we would like to be refurbished is in our schools B Block which houses our year 3/4 students. The school has a plan to replace all floor coverings in the eight classroom space in 2021 as the existing carpet is 15 years old, old, tired and threadbare.
The opportunity to have an additional $2000 means that our budget for the refurbishment can go further. It means we can consider other areas that need refurbishment and means we can meet the needs of more learners.
