Ra-Itu Koanga Reo
“Hi, we’re a small Koanga Reo (Cook Island Learning Centre) based in Tokoroa. We have a roll of 25 children, 3 full time teachers and 3 relievers – our manager has a dual roll of teacher and manager and one awesome admin in the office. We are nestled in the heart of Tokoroa, a wonderful area to raise children in. Our town is blessed to be a melting pot of different cultures, as is our wee Koanga Reo. We could dearly do with a helping hand with some much needed funding. Any funding or help would be much appreciated. Thank you for considering our Koanga.
Our poor carpet looks every year of it’s 20 plus years. It’s thread bare in most places, the carpet is so worn in places that there is little carpet left. In fact, it’s back to the backing of the original carpet itself. I myself have grazed my knees whilst kneeling on the carpet, it’s like sitting on bare rough floors.
It is our main play space at Koanga, whether its blocks/family play/science and books or a race track during the wet and cold days of winter – the space is always in use. With a bit of funding, our children would be able to play on the mat area and actually sit comfortably without requiring mats or cushions to cover up the places where our carpet has worn through. Our sleep room would be warmer with decent carpet, and make the room that much cozier.”

“This little Koanga sent a heartfelt application for the RhinoKids project. Straight away, we knew we needed to help them. They were struggling for funding and had nothing to go towards the project but had fundraisers coming up. The carpet was so threadbare it was causing more knee scraps than the concrete outside. It had come apart in several areas and had become a serious hazard for the young people that attended the centre.
I’m thrilled for them that the Rhino project has provided new flooring. They have transformed the indoor play area and now have a safe, warm and inviting carpeted area. It has meant that their current fundraising efforts can go into the resources they need for the kids. When you see how this fund helps children’s educational centres it makes you so proud to be part of the Carpet Court Brand.”

“This this is a massive thank you to you and Kenzie on behalf of Ra-itu Koanga Reo in Tokoroa. The carpet was laid on Friday 26th April 2024. Our Koanga is so warm, cosy, and inviting with our new carpet. It looks absolutely stunning and feels wonderful under foot. It has also cut down the noise levels quite dramatically too. It was such a blessing to be accepted by RhinoKids Carpet Court that has enabled us to get the grant for the much needed carpet. Thank you again, your help and support has been invaluable. We cannot thank you guys enough.”
