A Home Reimagined: Simone Anderson's Carpet Refresh
Simone Anderson shares how replacing her carpet transformed her family home. From choosing a practical yet stylish carpet to creating a custom rug for her living space, we chat about the small changes that have made a big difference to everyday life.
Sometimes, the simplest changes can make the biggest difference to how a home looks and feels. For content creator, makeup artist and mum of two Simone Anderson, replacing the carpet in her family home was one of those changes.
After almost seven years in their home, Simone and her husband Trent decided it was time for an update. With two young boys and a dog, finding flooring that balanced style, comfort and practicality was essential.
We caught up with Simone to chat about her experience with Carpet Court, why she chose Malmo Madrid in Summerford, and how new carpet and a custom made rug have transformed her home.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
I'm Simone Anderson - a content creator, makeup artist and business owner, but my favourite job by far is being Mum to our two beautiful (and very wild) little boys, Asher and Ryder. I'm also wife to Trent and dog mum to Maddox, aka Mad Dog. We are a very full noise family who love being outdoors, travelling, up-keeping our home and pretty much saying yes to any adventure.

What made you decide it was time to replace your carpet?
We've been in our home for almost seven years now. It was a new build when we bought it, so the carpet was brand new and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it... it just was never really us. Because it was still in great condition, I couldn't justify replacing something that was perfectly functional.
Then one day Trent asked if we could just get a quote. I honestly agreed thinking it would be ridiculously expensive and we'd quickly move on from the idea because this isn't our forever home. But when the quote came back, I was genuinely shocked at how affordable it was to carpet the whole house with the carpet we actually wanted. From that moment we were like...yep, let's do it!
As a household with two young children and a dog, what practical features were you looking for when choosing new carpet?
It had to be beautiful, but it also had to survive our family! With two little boys, a black and white dog, and us being a bit of perfectionists, practicality was just as important as how it looked. Our old carpet showed every single speck of dust, every bit of dog hair and every crumb. I was honestly vacuuming three or four times a day just to keep it looking clean.
This time I specifically wanted something textured that disguised everyday life a little better, while still feeling luxurious. That's exactly what we found. It's incredibly hard wearing, comes with a fantastic warranty, and somehow still looks beautiful even after a busy day with the kids.
The biggest surprise - I now only vacuum about once a week because you genuinely can't see every tiny bit of fluff anymore. It's saved me so much time!

What drew you to Malmo Madrid in the colour Summerford?
I absolutely fell in love with the colour and texture. It has that really beautiful, high end wool carpet look that I adore, but without all the high maintenance that comes with wool. It just feels timeless and adds so much warmth to the home.
Has the new carpet changed how your home feels?
It feels like we've moved into a completely different house. It's amazing how something as simple as changing the carpet can completely transform a space. Every room feels brighter, lighter and somehow even bigger. I genuinely walk through the house now and smile because I've completely fallen back in love with our home.
You shared that your old carpet showed every bit of fur and dust. How has the new carpet changed day-to-day life?
It’s been one of the biggest unexpected wins.
I used to feel like I was constantly chasing dog hair and crumbs around the house because the old carpet showed absolutely everything. Now I don't feel like I have to vacuum multiple times a day just for the house to look clean. It still looks fresh even with kids running around and Maddox shedding everywhere, which has given me so much more time back.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about replacing their carpet?
Just get the quote! That was honestly the biggest lesson for us. We'd convinced ourselves it was going to cost way more than it actually did, so we kept putting it off for years.
Also, don't just choose a carpet because it looks nice in a little sample. Think about how you actually live.
If you've got kids, pets or you're constantly cleaning like I was, choose something that's going to work for your lifestyle as well as look beautiful. It's one of those upgrades that you notice every single day, and for us it's been worth every cent.
You also had a custom rug made from the same carpet. What inspired this idea, and how has it helped bring your living space together?
When we renovated, I really wanted our downstairs living, dining and kitchen spaces to feel beautifully cohesive. But finding a rug big enough for our lounge was proving impossible! We needed something big, around 3.4m x 3.3m, and finding the right size, colour and texture without spending an absolute fortune was a real challenge.
Then we had the idea of using the same carpet we'd chosen for upstairs and our downstairs bedroom and having it made into a custom rug!
Having it made to our exact measurements has completely transformed the space. It defines the living area beautifully while still keeping that lovely open plan feel.
I also love how seamlessly it ties in with the carpet throughout the rest of our home. Such a simple idea, but honestly one of my favourite decisions from our renovation! Who knew you could turn carpet into a custom rug?!

How did you find the Carpet Court experience, from choosing the carpet through to installation?
We actually got quotes from a few different companies before making our decision, but the team at Carpet Court stood out straight away.
One of the consultants in particular was incredible. I asked him what felt like a million silly questions, and he never made me feel silly once. He was brutally honest, never tried to upsell us, and genuinely wanted us to choose the carpet that was right for our family rather than the most expensive option.
That honesty built so much trust, and by the time installation came around we knew we'd made the right decision. The whole process was so smooth, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.
