Kidsfirst Kindergartens Vickery Street
This amazing kindergarten has 40+ children, aged from 2-5yrs with 3 main full time teachers. It has the most wonderful, friendly, social and welcoming learning environment for children. It would be amazing, the kindergarten would actually be able to get the carpet and lino and transform the existing space. Our parents can then fundraise for learning resources so would take a lot of pressure off.
The existing lino flooring is probably the original from 36 + years ago. This is in the main open play space along with existing carpet that is fraying and not joined safely. The lino is marked, and bubbling in places. The carpet is well worn, fraying, stained, and the children have to sit on this which feels like they are sitting directly on concrete. It is not safe or practical for our children.

We managed to win this fund because our carpet and flooring were old and very rough around the edges. We are pretty sure they have been there since this kindergarten opened nearly 50 years ago. It was hard to sit on and it wasn’t very pleasing to the eye. Now that we have had it done we are amazed at how warm our space is, how big it feels and are in love with the way it looks. It has given our old building a new lease of life. We can’t thank you enough for this wonderful opportunity and what you have given to this very grateful community.

After reading all of our applications, the team and I voted on Kidsfirst Kindergarten Vickery Street in Kaiapoi to receive the RhinoKids fund. Their flooring was old, in bad shape and definitely needed an upgrade. Upon meeting the applicant, Jenna, I worked out a quote to replace the old vinyl with something more modern and fresh, new carpet and underlay for the whole place as well as a bound rug for the kids to play/sit. This was all over and above what the RhinoKids fund offered. The transformation was awesome and we are rapt we could make it all happen while the centre was shut over the festive break. It feels good to be able to help out in our local community and spread positivity.
