Paekākāriki Playcentre
We are a parent run playcentre with an amazing facilitator on our sessions. We have approximately 20 students who come along to some or all of our 3 sessions we run each week, accompanied by their parents and new siblings. We also hire out our space to different groups, such as a baby space group, for different learning experiences and classes. Being parent run, we have the benefit of ECE but with higher ratios of adults to children, meaning we can provide for each child’s interests as we see them evolve. Many of our parents have or are involved in the playcentre education courses, so can aid our facilitator in providing quality education experiences for our tamariki.
Our centre has vinyl flooring throughout, with a couple of broadloom mats in two spaces. We have recently shifted our library to become more of a quiet zone as we have lots of new baby siblings in our cohort, so would greatly benefit from new carpet in this zone to allow the young babies a space to be on the floor. We also have a couple of other areas which either have old carpet mats which could be replaced, or no carpet which need carpet. The carpet mats are very tired and starting to get worn. With new carpet, the spaces would be warmer, perform better acoustically and provide space for more activities to be undertaken, whether that’s quiet reading, tummy time or floor play. We would love to improve our spaces more and while our centre has amazing character and heritage, it could perform much better acoustically. Our space is really multifunctional, so new flooring would allow the space to flex in different ways even more.

The new carpet mats supplied by Richard and the team at Carpet Court Paraparaumu have given our centre a real boost by providing warmth and durability to our well used play spaces. Our tamariki are loving exploring the new spaces we’ve created at our centre. Even our littlest pēpi are now able to enjoy tummy time in a dedicated baby zone. Thank you for your generous support Carpet Court, the new flooring will be enjoyed and appreciated by our playcentre whānau for years to come.

We are thrilled to support our local playcentre by providing new mats for the kids play areas. It’s heart-warming to know we’re making a positive impact on our children’s playtime.
