FAQ’S

What areas of the floor will be replaced?
Most insurance policies cover replacement of the affected room only and we receive instructions from your insurer based on your specific policy. If you are unsure of your entitlements, check the wording in your policy document or contact your insurance company directly.

Will the underlay be replaced?
If your underlay has been damaged in the claimable incident it will be replaced. If your existing underlay was not damaged it obviously won’t be replaced by your insurer. However, it is often a good idea to replace the underlay to improve the comfort, insulation and longevity of the new carpet. Our consultant can show you the underlay options and provide an obligation free quote.

Can my carpet be matched perfectly?
Our consultants are experts in identifying product but as fashions change products are deleted or modified by the manufacturer meaning that a match becomes less likely the older your flooring is. Also, your flooring will change in appearance over the years due to general wear and tear and exposure to light making a perfect match impossible.

Can I choose a different product?
Yes. While the replacement value is based on the quality of the damaged flooring (like for like) you can choose to upgrade to a better product and/or do other areas of your home and simply pay the difference. Our consultant will be more than happy to provide a free quote for any upgrades and/or additional work.

I’ve seen a deal advertised that seems cheap, should I get a quote.
Our insurance professionals will always quote on a like for like product to establish the correct replacement value. The time to look at specials and other products is after the like for like quote is accepted by your insurer or you may risk short changing yourself.

What about my insurance excess?
When the claim is approved your insurance company will confirm details of any excess payment which you’ll need to pay before the claim can proceed. In most cases Carpet Court will collect the excess on behalf of your insurance company once you’ve confirmed your new flooring.

Can I get a discount on any additional work?
Yes! In conjunction with your insurer, Carpet Court has negotiated preferential pricing from New Zealand’s largest flooring suppliers for insurance replacement work. This means that if you order more flooring at the same time as the insurance order you’ll be able to take advantage of their special pricing.
