Alphabet Academy Childcare Centre

Alphabet Academy Childcare Centre is owned by a registered charitable trust and provides affordable care for low income families and for families of essential workers at our hospital.

Th space we are applying for is the toddlers area which is used for story time and playing. The carpet is 9 years old and is threadbare and stained in places. Replacing the flooring would mean the children wouldn’t be sitting on carpet with threads missing and stains that we are currently trying to cover with a mat. It would also mean the money saved could go towards eventually buying some outside equipment.

To Wayne Molloy and the team at Carpet Court on behalf of Alphabet Academy childcare centre.

I would like to say a big thank you to the team at Carpet Court Palmerston North and to the RhinoKids flooring fund for there community support and generosity in making this grant available to community childcare centres like ours.

It was with a real sense of encouragement and support when we heard that our application for the grant had been successful, our teaching team at our centre waited with a grateful heart for our new carpet, Wayne the Manager of Carpet Court gave an idea of a neutral light grey tile splashed with blue tiles throughout, when it was completed the transformation was incredible.

The area that has been transformed is in our over two’s reading and quiet area, where children read and are read stories, and where teachers get the children to lie down for a short time of quiet rest, so the colour scheme introduced adds vibrancy, yet a clean modern peaceful feel.  The carpet that was in this children’s area before was worn and in need of replacing, being a not for profit community centre we are about keeping parent fees as affordable as we can, to support families and so with this support in the from of a grant for the supply and laying of this carpeted area massively helped us to achieve our goal of support to families in our community.

So thank you Carpet Court for helping us in our work with the Tamariki and Whanau of our centre.

It was an absolute pleasure to make this happen for the kids and whanau at the centre. Such a well deserved recipient of this fund, the area was threadbare and now looks amazing. Like them, we are so pleased with the final result and we can’t wait to do this again in the future.
