Clarkville Playcentre
“Clarkville Playcentre is an Early Childhood Centre in rural North Canterbury. We bring together our local community supporting 18 families with 27 Children. We provide a quality learning environment for ages 0-6. We empower families and caregivers to be the first educators of their children. We actively fundraise to provide the best resources we can for our children. We have identified that our mats are not adequate to protect our babies and children from the cold concrete base underneath. We would like to create a learning environment with a warm homely feel, ensuring our children have a soft, insulated carpet to play on. We would love to create this space alongside our lino area which we used for our art, craft and eating area.”

“On behalf of everyone at Clarkville Playcentre, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you and the team at Carpet Court Rangiora for your support through the Rhino Kids Grant. We are incredibly grateful not only for the grant itself, but also for your effort in fitting us in while the centre was not in session. Your flexibility and consideration made the process smooth and stress-free, and we truly appreciate your commitment to helping us create a better environment for our tamariki. The new flooring has made a noticeable difference—our centre is now much warmer and more comfortable for the children and parents alike. Thank you once again for your generosity and support.”
– Clare O’Sullivan, Secretary
“Clarkville Playcentre have applied for the RhinoKids fund third year in a row, so yes, we decided to go with them this time. They had an ambitious idea of carpeting a large part of the playcentre with the hope that it could be done with a small budget. I could see after the measure that the RhinoKids fund won’t get even close to getting the project done, but I wanted to help, so I dug in and found a solution. If we keep the vinyl there and if we use our old stock of Portland carpet and get the RhinoKids fund to help, the final price for them to pay will be below the $3,000 that they needed. When I presented this idea, they were thrilled. The dried peat colour nicely matched their needs as well, so the deal was made! The transformation has changed the place, the team and kids are now enjoying a nice warm carpet under their feet and belly. Feels good to be able to help out in our local community and spread a good name.”
