Explorers Early Learning Centre 

Explorers’ vision is to ensure a secure environment where children can feel supported, respected and cared for. The owners, Josh and Ronelle, wanted to provide an environment that stimulated imaginations, where children could explore, be creative and have fun. Explorers opened in 2017 to foster the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development of all children, acknowledging that all children have individual learning styles and ensuring that each child is seen as a unique individual. We have made Explorers a home away from home, as we are privileged to be caring and educating some of our children from 8am-5.15pm 5 days a week.

We would like to upgrade our carpet in our 2 main play areas, the Overs and the Unders (lounge space) and our lino area in our dining/kitchen/hall and laundry. These areas get a hammering each day with 35 children having fun and adventures, learning, exploring and experimenting as they learn and grow. The lino and carpet are old and getting worn from our children’s daily adventures. New flooring would make cleaning the areas easier and be more pleasant for children to crawl, walk and for children and teachers to sit and play/learn/teach.

By winning this fund we have managed to fast forward our plans to upgrade some of our carpet. With this funding we have upgraded the carpet in our lounge area as it was looking tired and the underlay had deteriorated. We have now created a more comfy, homely space with the carpet we have chosen which the tamariki and kaiako can spend time on learning and creating memories. Coming into winter, we can already feel the benefits, with a cosier and warmer area for the tamariki. We didn’t realise how a change like this would have with absorbing sound and making this space quieter and more relaxing. Thank you Carpet Court!

Explorers Centre are a lovely team of caregivers who love to nurture children’s learning. This project has provided much needed warmth and comfort for all. The children are enjoying the newly refreshed play area.
