John Street Preschool Project

John Street Preschool is a diverse centre with an array of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. It is licensed up to sixty children, including up to twelve infants and toddlers. There are three main rooms rooms within the centre, divided by age groupings. The centre has been operating since 1995 in it’s current custom built premises, which is now starting to show wear and tear.

Apart from the infants/toddler room, the other main teaching rooms (including sleep room) have the original carpet in it. The sleep room is carpet over concrete flooring and due to no proper underlay the floor is often cold and drafty for the children who are sleeping on it (on stretcher beds), particularly in winter time. New carpet and underlay would benefit the centre immensely as it would enhance the sleeping environment of our over two’s children.

Thank you so much to Carpet Court Blenheim for the huge contribution to the new carpet in our preschool. The team was able to work around our busy schedule and get the install done without any interruption to us. Our old sleep room carpet was tired and in need of an upgrade. Having soft underlay and new carpet has made a huge difference to the environment and to the wellbeing of the children. The children (and some teachers) have also been having a great time rolling around on the ground enjoying this lovely new space. We really appreciate the support Carpet Court has given us. John St Preschool Blenheim approached us in April 2022 to apply for the RhinoKids $2000 grant for the sleep room of their preschool. After looking into their project we were happy to award them the $2000 to go towards the recarpeting of this area.

Their chosen room was a worthy recipient for Carpet Court Malmo Marseille SDN with new underlay completing the clean fresh and warm feel of their sleeproom.

We were happy to work with them to fit in around teaching days to complete this project and pleased they are enjoying a good result as winter is now upon us.
