Reporoa Kindergarten

We are a rural kindergarten situated between Rotorua and Taupo. We are licensed for 40 children and have 6 staff. We have many children traveling from remote locations to attend Kindergarten and whanau participation is strongly encouraged. Our Kindergarten falls under the Central Kids umbrella and is a non profit charitable trust. We have limited budgets which means we rely heavily on fundraising and grants to do bigger projects like replacing carpet.

Reporoa Kindergarten is very grateful to Rhino Kids for donating carpets to our Reading Area and Play Areas. The new carpets have brightened up our learning environment. The plush soft carpet in the Reading Area is well loved by the tamariki. They comment on how comfortable and soft it is, perfect for reading stories and gathering together for group activities. The tamariki use the carpet as a sensory experience as well, the soft texture is so calming it supports them to self-manage their emotions, bodies and boosts their wellbeing, and wairua. The carpet in the Play Areas has a natural colour that can be kept clean quite easily and blends into the many scenarios in the play of the tamariki. Thank you again Rhino Kids.

‘It was a delight to work with the Reporoa Kindergarten on their Rhino Kids flooring project to help improve their learning environment. The whole area is covered in commercial cold vinyl which had several scattered small rugs for the kids to sit/play on! Great to hear that by donating larger rugs to the two different areas, it has added the right level of experience for their tamariki, and warmth!’
