Te Hiringa Alternative Education

About Us

Kia ora, we run alternative education out of the Highbury whanau community centre 5 days a week. The centre is not just used for our group of 20 students, and 5 staff but also the centre  is used as a social services organisation that provides services at a youth level for after school programs, counselling, sports groups, holiday programmes, mentors and youth workers. The centre is also used by other user groups such as Te Reo Maori classes, AA groups, youth groups, church groups etc. The facility was built in 2006 and it has the original carpet in the facility.

Why Did We Apply?

Our flooring is very old and worn. New flooring would be uplifting for all of the many groups that use the facility.

How Would Winning Help Us?

We are funded by a few different sources that have very strict spending criteria and carpet and deco renovations etc. are not part of that.
