Opihi College – Learning Support Centre
About Us
Our learning support is used by our 10 students with disabilities. The abilities of our students range from non-verbal, wheelchair bound and autism. Many of our students spend a great of time engaging in activities on the floor. As well as these students we often work with students who have behavioural or need support around their wellbeing. The students come to the centre for calming as well as learning and we try to make the environment as peaceful and welcoming as possible.
Why Did We Apply?
We are looking for flooring in our learning support centre, it is an existing build and want something more inviting than bright red! It is thread bare, damaged, unhygienic, and stained.
How Would Winning Help Us?
New carpet would modernise and give a much better feel to our space and it would encourage more students who need emotional support to access the “cool” room. It would be more hygienic for our students who work mainly on the floor and would create a more calming and less “busy” look in the room for our students who need their well being catered for.
