Te Wero Gymnastics

About Us

Te Wero Gymnastics is a non-profit organisation in Christchurch dedicated to providing opportunities for young athletes, in particular girls, to develop their skills and passion for gymnastics. Our small but mighty club, trains over 170 gymnasts. Te Wero is a place where girls can challenge themselves, and support each other, learning valuable life skills whilst in the pursuit of their sporting goals.

Why Did We Apply?

The current carpet is very worn, stained, has holes, and is held together in places by duct tape. This area is used constantly by staff in the reception, and parents as a viewing platform, and for gymnasts to sit during breaks and put their belongings. It is the first area you see walking into the gym. We hold competitions and it isn’t a nice look having ripped, taped carpet upon entry! It is uncomfortable, cold and unsafe.

How Would Winning Help Us?

The space would be improved by new flooring in many ways. For starters, it would look more inviting and aesthetically pleasing. It would provide more comfort for gymnasts constantly walking in bare feet and would also be safer as no duct tape holding it down, no holes and more traction! The building is very cold, so new carpet would also add more warmth and
insulation. Any extra funding would make a huge difference to keeping our doors open.
